Our Entire Training Team was fortunate enough to complete the Pilot Training of the Updated CCAR Facilitator Program.
The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© was conceived in 2008 in response to the needs of volunteers in the CCAR Recovery Community Centers. They asked for more training to better handle the variety of scenarios and situations generated from recoverees who frequented the centers. This included engagement and communication skills. When graduates returned from the academy, they started calling themselves “Recovery Coaches”. While the CCAR RCA has had a few updates over the past 10 years, the foundation principles of recovery coaching have stood the test of time. The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is a 5-day intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the skills need to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. Provided in a retreat like environment, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© prepares participants by helping them to actively listen, ask really good questions, and discover and manage their own stuff. This training provides 30 CEs and is a NAADAC and CPFS Approved Training. CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© participants will: Describe Recovery Coach role and functions List the components, core values and guiding principles of recovery Build skills to enhance relationships Explore many dimensions of recovery and recovery coaching Discover attitudes about self disclosure and sharing your story Understand the stages of recovery Describe the stages of change and their applications Increase their awareness of culture, power and privilege Address ethical and boundaries issues Experience recovery wellness planning Practice newly acquired skills

Choices Peer Coach Recovery Trainings pioneer the way in bridging the gap between addiction, abuse, and recovery by supporting peer recovery coaches on their journeys forward, providing the foundation required to realize their potential and sustain success in this critical, but challenging field.
Choices Peer Recovery Coach Trainings © are nationally approved peer recovery coach trainings, designed to provide effective knowledge, skills, and tools for those seeking to better understand recovery, recovery coaching, faith-based peer coaching, and peer recovery support work. Choices Peer Recovery Coach Trainings provide the foundational skills necessary to begin working in the recovery field.
This PRC training is designed for individuals looking to begin their journey as a peer recovery support specialist or peer recovery coach in the substance use field; or for those who are looking to learn how to better engage with those suffering from Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
This training provides 30 CEs and is a Colorado CPFS and a NAADAC NCPRSS Approved Training.
Objectives:
Learn about Peer Delivery Services and why it's gaining traction throughout the world.
Gain a foundational understanding of addiction and the brain
Understand common behaviors of addiction
Learn foundational skills of active listening and motivational interviewing
Learn and clarify roles of a recovery coach and understand staying in lane
Gain an understanding of what recovery coaching is
Gain an understanding of stages of change and stages of recovery
Understand solution-focused engagement
Learn how to discuss reuse prevention plans
Understand the importance of SMART Goals setting with recoverees
Gain an understanding of Harm Reduction
Learn about the importance of self-care, compassion fatigue & burnout
We are proud of our newly acquired PRC training. The Choices PRC training offers a contrast to our other offerings and provides a different focus of information and skills. This Choices PRC training is available in both English and Spanish. Our team will be offering each language at least once per quarter. We will be adding additional trainings available in English and Spanish later this summer.
