Writing of Teenage girls who died from an apparent Fentanyl overdose.

published by Merlyn Karst:

The LA Times wrote about a string of student overdoses. Within the body of the article, I read the following. The community needs to muster up the necessary courage that will break the vow of silence, which is often induced through threat. There are people who know far more about who is responsible and they don’t speak about it because of fear. Those words have impact and a call to action.

Fentanyl is 50 times stronger than heroin, which means overdoses happen faster and are more likely to be deadly. “When recreational drugs are tainted with fentanyl, it’s very hard for people to know it’s there—it can make anyone vulnerable to an overdose,” explains Consortium executive director Dr. Robert Valuck. “Our new campaign speaks to the reality of fentanyl-laced drugs circulating in our communities while empowering our audiences to take steps to protect themselves and their friends from overdose.” I titled this For Contemplation. Contemplate this as the 15th has passed. Remember: 1: Know your epidemic, know your response. 2: Make collaboration your strategy 3: Nothing about us without us. 4: Meet people where they are!
